From Monday, April 8 through mid-May, a short segment of the Upper Tampa Bay Trail will be closed. The closed area lies just south of Linebaugh Avenue and continues until the trail’s intersection with Sheldon Road just north of the current wastewater treatment plant at Sheldon’s intersection with Waters Avenue. The trail will remain open southwest of Sheldon Road and north of Linebaugh Avenue. Trail users may detour the closed area using bike lanes and sidewalks along Sheldon Road, Old Linebaugh Avenue, and Linebaugh Avenue.
The temporary closure is related to Hillsborough County’s Wastewater Consolidation Project, which is rerouting sewer lines in the area.
Pipeline installation is part of the first phase of a Hillsborough County Public Utilities project to retire and remove the aging River Oaks Wastewater Treatment Plant located at the corner of Sheldon Road and Waters Avenue.
