WCA Board Selects New Leadership

The Westchase Community Association (WCA) Board of Directors elected new officers at their organizational meeting on Sept. 12.

The meeting followed the Westchase Voting Members’ elections for the board, which saw Keswick Forest’s Heather Greeley-Hessefort and Harbor Links/The Estates resident Dale Sells fill the seats of former Directors Joaquin Arrillaga and Ashley Wait-Woodcock, who did not seek reelection. Incumbent Rick Goldstein of Woodbridge was reelected. The three joined existing directors Ruben Collazo, Michele Del Sordo, Keith Heinemann and Shawn Yesner.

The meeting started with two nominations for president. Michele Del Sordo made a motion to nominate Shawn Yesner, which Heather Greeley-Hessefort seconded. Immediately after that motion, Rick Goldstein made a motion to nominate previous WCA President Ruben Collazo to continue as president, which Keith Heinemann seconded. Someone asked if there could be two motions open at the same time and Community Association Manager Debbie Sainz said that they needed to vote on the first motion first. Directors voted 4-3 in favor of Del Sordo’s nomination of Yesner with Collazo, Goldstein and Heinemann casting the dissenting votes.

Directors subsequently voted 3–4 against Heinemann’s motion to nominate Goldstein as vice president with Dale Sells, Del Sordo, Greeley-Hessefort and Yesner casting the dissenting votes. Directors voted in favor of Yesner’s motion to nominate Del Sordo vice president with Collazo, Goldstein and Heinemann casting the dissenting votes.

All voted in favor of Collazo’s motion to nominate Heinemann as secretary and Heinemann’s motion to nominate Collazo as treasurer. All directors also voted in favor of Del Sordo’s motion to nominate Goldstein as chair of the Government Affairs Committee.

Closing major action, directors voted 3–4 against Collazo’s motion to renominate Heinemann as WOW Member, who serves as the liaison between the WCA and WOW Boards and oversees appointments to the WOW Board. Del Sordo, Greeley-Hessefort, Sells and Yesner cast the dissenting votes. Sells’ motion to nominate Greeley-Hessefort WOW member instead passed 4-3 with Collazo, Goldstein and Heinemann casting the dissenting votes.
