Kim Sumerel of Southern Arts and Events is no stranger to hosting successful events. Her background in children’s theater has taken her to schools across the South to host educational theater programs. While living in the Orlando suburb of Lake Mary, she began offering themed events to promote the local artisan community. Sumerel moved to Tampa seven years ago and immersed herself in the city’s vibrant arts and events scene to better understand the local event needs. She originally planned to launch an event series in downtown Oldsmar in the fall of 2024, but the devastating hurricane season caused her to put those plans on hold.
She began searching for a new space to launch her event series and found the ideal outdoor space in Westchase Town Center. The series kicked off in February with Arts in the Park followed by Hop into Spring Craft Show in March.
Next up is the Leaf and Latte Garden Show on Saturday, April 19.
As Sumerel explained, Southern Arts and Events offers more than a traditional market experience; their themed events feature a carefully curated roster of vendors to ensure a high-quality shopping experience with unique and complementary products. Each event caters to a specific audience. Whether it’s an art showcase, a garden and home event, or a seasonal celebration, each event is carefully crafted to match the right vendors with the right shoppers.
