Three Charitable Events Rescheduled

Back-to-back hurricanes led to the postponement of two popular local golf tournaments and a new pickleball tournament.

The Westchase Freebooters Inaugural Charity Pickleball Tournament originally scheduled for Oct. 19 will now be held on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 1-5 p.m. at Tampa Bay Pickleball in the Oldsmar Flea Market. The event will feature a fun day of pickleball, food and drinks, all to benefit St. Francis Society Animal Rescue. For more information or to register, visit tinyurl.com/WestchaseFreebooters.

Jacob’s Touch Charity Golf Tournament, originally schedule for September 28, will now be held on Saturday, December 21 at the Westchase Golf Club. All proceeds will help further Jacob’s Touch Foundation’s mission to provide financial care and assistance through grants for therapy, medical and educational needs to families and nonprofit organizations supporting autistic and neurodiverse people. The Hillsborough Helping Kids Annual Golf Tournament, originally scheduled for Nov. 1, has been postponed to March 28, 2025. Organizers Mark and PJ Broussard of Harbor Links noted that roughly 30% of their sponsors, volunteers and golfers suffered physical damage, and many more were helping others with catastrophic loss. For those reasons, they felt it best to push the tournament to the spring. The tournament is hosted by Global 504, a non-profit private humanitarian aid organization founded by the Broussards to focus on the most neglected kids in the world. Proceeds raised benefit Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Youth Programs, Campo Amor-Cuban Children’s Medical Relief and Gold Star Family College Scholarship-Florida.
