Alonso Musicians
Win Superior Ratings
By Sara Neuman, PTSA
Corresponding Secretary
The week of
March 10 was a busy one for the students, teachers and
administration of Alonso High School. FCATs are now over
and life at Alonso gets back to normal (if the life of a
teenager can ever be considered normal). The PTSA
provided the staff at the high school with an FCAT
Kick-Off Coffee. Starbucks donated their special brew
and World of Westchase contributed the funds to purchase
pastries. Thank you, Starbucks and WOW.
The PTSA also hosted its first-ever Chat with The
Principal on March 25 at 6:30 p.m. The event took place
in the media center and proved an excellent opportunity
to ask questions about Alonso and get to know its
principal. It allowed a number of potential Alonso
parents to make informed decisions about their children’s
high school education.
Alonso High School recently participated in the district
FBA Solo and Ensemble competition at Gaither High
School. Both of Alonso’s woodwind choirs, as well as one
of the brass choirs, received superior ratings. Many of
the solo and small ensembles also received superior
ratings. Congratulations, Raven musicians!
It’s almost time for the all-important PTSA elections.
They will be held in April and the board is looking for
new people with new ideas to get involved. If you are
interested in applying for a position, please visit our
