WOW Says Final Thanks to Distribution
Volunteers
By Chris Barrett, Publisher/Managing Editor
The 2007 WOW Distribution Day crew enjoys
the volunteer luncheon.
On Friday, Dec. 7, WOW held its annual volunteer luncheon at Stone
Chase. The luncheon has been held by the magazine every December to
offer its thanks to the generous volunteers who gathered monthly to
stuff the inserts into the magazines and bag them for delivery. Over
WOW’s ten years, hundreds of Westchase residents have lent a hand to
ensure the magazine arrived at their neighbors’ homes. Many had
wonderful times visiting with neighbors as they helped build WOW
into the successful newsmagazine it has become.
At the luncheon, WOW, Inc. Board member Ernie Sylvester and
Publisher Chris Barrett both thanked the volunteers for their
generosity.
With WOW on more solid financial footing than it was in its early
years and with recent technological advances in the printing
industry, the magazine has elected to automate the
process that once relied on the hard labor of dozens of
Westchase volunteers. While WOW staff will miss the smiling faces at
its monthly Distribution Days, it is hoped that this change will
enable its generous volunteers to reach out to other worthwhile
community organizations and individuals who may need a hand getting
onto their feet – as WOW once did.
WOW thanks all of its great Distribution Day volunteers from its
first distribution in June of 1997 through this past December! You will be
missed!
